		TRAINING Information Training Curriculum for Tax Filing Season 2009 Process-Based Tax Return Preparation Training 32 hours Covers basic and intermediate tax return preparation, Tax Wise software, and leads to certification. This class will also address pensions and annuities (part of the advanced tax training). Training and certification for new volunteers with no previous experience who wish to prepare tax returns. Link & Learn Tax Return Preparation Training **NEW** Students achieve certification from home through Link & Learn, the IRS’ web-based training program. This interactive course provides training for new and returning volunteers in tax return preparation and leads to certification. Volunteers completing Link & Learn at the Basic level and achieving certification may then attend a 4 hour orientation with regards to site operation and standards. ** The new Link & Learn 2009 will now incorporate the TaxWise Software that is used at all VITA sites to complete the tax returns, it will truly be interactive between the tax law and the TaxWise software.** This session is for volunteers with minimal tax experience who would like to participate in the VITA program but cannot attend a training session in a classroom. Volunteers will also need to take a 4 hour orientation class to on what to expect at a VITA site. Modified Process-Based Tax Preparation Training 16 Hours Covers basic tax return preparation, Tax law updates, and Tax Wise software, and leads to basic level certification. Training and certification for new volunteers with no previous experience who wish to prepare tax returns. This intensive training is for volunteers who can not attend the 32 hour training. Process-Based Test out Option** 4 hours Tax law and code update, software familiarization, certification testing using Tax Wise software. **Only available for returning volunteers and those with Tax Wise and tax law background.** Clerical Training 4 hours VITA site administrative operations and excellence in customer service. Training for VITA site clerical volunteers.
